I can't believe I didn't ever respond to this post. San Francisco was incredible. Absolutely... I would happily live there at a push, although the number of mentally unstable homeless folk wandering the streets is a worry.

Napa Valley was also the perfect place to unwind. If you like good wine, good food and beautiful scenery, then you could do worse than check it out. I could live here too, but with land selling between $500k - $1m an acre, it's unlikely.

As for the mix - it's fantastic! Blodwyn Pig and Stephen Fretwell were revelations!

Going to San Fran brought on a cliched musical bent for a week or so. I had taken my i-pod and docks were supplied in the hotel rooms, so spent the week on a diet of Creedence, Grateful Dead, Allman Brothers and the like.....

Now there's man that can knock a tune together. It's nearly sort of rap at times, but not quite, mixes in a bluesy feel to it. And he sure knows how to make a twangy noise with them there strings. I like it, gonna go find me some more to listen to.
Never heard of him before, good find URD.

Ahh - horses for courses I guess Cheeze. Admitedly I had my first listen with some trepidation, but was pleasantly surprised. At least you gave it a chance though.

Maybe I just like it because Liam has no involvement whatso ever :-)

To quote a friend who knows his music....

"I bought the Noel Gallagher album over the weekend and it is wicked. He’s much better out of Oasis than he was in it. I was bored sh!tless of Oasis after their first album, which was the only decent one they ever did IMO."

Cheeze - have you had chance to listen to it fully now and what do you think?

I thought I'd throw a spanner in the works Cheeze. No argument from me that Oasis were by and large Beatles wannabes, (although admittedly they had a knack for writing blokey anthems). Noel however, has taken a slightly new direction. It's not groundbreaking by any stretch of the imagination, but at least he's not trying to recreate Oasis, which is what Liam has done with Beady Eye.

I always preferred Noel out of the Gallaghers in any case and he further strengthened his case that he's grown up, when asked by Jool on 'Later..' if he could have been any songwriter who would it be, he replied 'Neil Young'.

On the same show he obviously appealed to Red Hot Chili Peppers (who were the main guests) as he will now be supporting them during some of their summer shows.
