The wait is almost over for one of my most anticipated albums of the year ‘Dream Attic’ by Richard Thompson. I’ve probably played more of his music over the last few weeks than anybody else – what with some old Fairport Convention live stuff, his solo album ‘Old Kit Bag’ plus the box set ‘Walking on a Wire’ (all 4 CD’s twice), I’ve heard quite a lot of this guy.
And do you know…..he just gets better and better and better – I can find no weakness in any of his work – its all a joy to listen to, his words, his guitar, his way – he really should be up there with Macca et al. in terms of people acknowledging his contribution to British music.
Uh time to get off my soap-box and watch the video again…”I’m bad again, I’m bad again ……la la la la la la.
One thing – what happened to the guys drum kit? Where is it? One cymbal, a snare drum and bass drum!!!! Neil Peart wouldn’t get out of bed for that lot!
Hi LD
Like most here i’ve been a big RT fan since day one.
Not sure about this new album though. Iv’e heard 3 tracks off it, & i think they sound, well a bit average!
Think i’ll buy Old Kit Bag instead as this one escaped me & i loved the track on your Sept mix.
Ah now here’s Mr T doing what he does best – makes it look so simple but it all hangs together so well. What with that violin and the distinctive guitar sound, the good time feel of it all – just superb.
It could nearly be the last time I seen him, about maybe 15 years ago back in Cropredy, only thing that’s changed is the colour of the beard and sideburns. Even the beret is still the same.
My own recommendation for beginning on this guy’s back catalogue? Has to be Hand of Kindness.
You can listen to the whole album on his website.
I just have, & i’ve changed my mind. Although the 3 tracks i listened to ( previous post) didn’t grab me,it’s a pretty good album. I particularly liked tracks 4/6/7/9/10/13
Hi Cheezy – thanks for the tip, am listening to now.
