Well, Laughing Dog, you’ve given me so much pleasure listening to your mixes, it’s nice to give something back.
[1] Kings Of Leon – My Party [Because of the Times]
Love this band, totally unique. Best album IMO.
[2] Paul Cusick – Ever Blue [Focal Point]
Don’t know anything about him but great album.
[3] Steve Hackett – Emerald and Ash [Out of the Tunnel's Mouth]
LD played a track off of this album on a mix recently, here’s another one!
[4] Robert Plant – Hey Joe [Dreamland]
You all know this song, but this is way different.
[5] Radiohead – 15 Step [In Rainbows]
Just loved their last 2 albums, they just keep getting better.
[6] Pink Floyd – Sheep [Animals]
This one’s for Techy from an underrated album.
[7] Jack Bruce – Lost in the City (Jam Mix) [More Jack Than God]
Just a great track.
[8] John Mellencamp – Circling Around the Moon [Mr Happy Go Lucky]
Love this guy, great album.
[9] Nick Harper – Simple [Miracles For Beginners]
Roy’s son, just love the words.
[10] The Who – Amazing Journey/Sparks [Live at Leeds]
Love this track, Keith Moon’s drumming is all over it.
[11] Turin Brakes – Blue Hour [Ether Song]
Saw these at Oxford, amazing!! One of the best gigs I’ve been to.
[12] Chris Smither – Time To Go Home [Up on the Lowdown]
Underrated over here, glad I found him.
The It’s a long and winding road Music Mix [an 85 mb zip file] will be available for one month from today – until midnight on 29 September 2010. As always, your thoughts and comments are much appreciated in the comment box below.

Brilliant mix cheeze!
Hi Cheezy – great mix cheers mate. I thought Bert’s mix was excellent with every song an instant classic that made me chase Mrs. LD around the house a bit faster than normal (kids are away don’t you know) but your mix, while being just as good is very different as it will take a few plays to fully appreciate the quality here.
Already loving Paul Cusick – Ever Blue, Nick Harper – Simple and The Who – I had forgotten how good these songs are live.
I reckon you and Bert have set the benchmark here in quality music mixes – next please
Yet another great cover LZ
Hi LD/LZ
Thanks for all your help with the process of getting this mix here. Glad you like.
Did you notice the names of the first & last songs?
Your right about the songs you have to leave out LD, it’s much harder than i thought it would be. Enjoyed it though.
Great mix Cheezy this is why MFTM is the best music site on the web
I real like Steve Hacket Jack Bruce and Turin Brakes
I am constantly being amazed by all the great music and the knowledge of the people
writing the posts
The recent mixes we have had from both Bert and this one from Cheezy have been full of excellent music, no doubt about that. Full of great classic rock and maybe one or two that we might have missed.
This one however stands out for one reason. And that reason is – Paul Cusick. Cheezy has said that he knows nothing about this guy, and that is understandable as the poor dude appears to have suffered from the music biz habit of ignoring anyone who isn’t aiming for the charts. Instead he has decided to do things his own way, which surely is worthy of our attention for a kick-off.
So, rather than follow the link supplied above, I suggest that you instead follow the one below:
http://www.paulcusick.co.uk/
This obviously takes you to his own website where you can hear much more of his music, buy the CD at a reasonable price directly from him or get it as a lossless download if you prefer.
Like Cheezy, I don’t know much about Cusick, I don’t think there is much more to know, but I do know that this is one stunning CD and that he deserves our support.
Hi Spacey – one step ahead of you here, just emailed Paul and asked if he wanted to use MFTM to promote his music. Hopefully have an interview, maybe some more music.
Here’s a thought – lets open the interview up to you – what questions should I ask Paul
Great looking mix Cheeze and thanks for the Floyd – in my humble opinion, the best track on Animals! I’ll download this tonight, as been busy enjoying the excesses of a bank holiday weekend.
I agree with other comments on here – the standard of music on this site is consistently excellent. I was having a drink or two with my dad in the garden yesteray and we were listening to some of Bert’s tunes and the June mini mix and he agrees!
I was going to say that the Paul Cusick track is one of the stand-out tracks of this mix (and that’s saying something!) so will be very interested to learn more – thanks guys!
After her latest comment, am I the only one getting the feeling that LZ might just have a thing for Porcupine Tree given half a chance (and a pot of tea)?
Just been listening to this Cheeze – superb effort. I enjoyed Chris Smither, Jack Bruce and Steve Hackett in particular. I have a playlist on my i-pod called ‘Par Excellence’ for my favourites and really good stuff that I discover and a number of your tracks have gone in here, along with some of Bert’s and LD’s. Looking forward to more mixes in the future.
Thank you so much guys, for your positive responces.
I am now working on my Oct Guest Mix. It’s tough not to fill it with great tracks that we all know & love. Hopefully i’ve got a few surprises for you, (although i’m beginning to think it’s hard to surprise Spacepig!)
It’s looking good though.
Hehe, you know spacey, I might just give them a go this weekend!
Good news LZ. I imagine you might have a lady or two in your mix? (Just noticed we havn’t had any yet.)
I keep thinking I should do one (the cover’s ready at least) but it’s just finding the right time to squeeze something in amongst all these great mixes.
Maybe I should just stick to the wee sideblog there (delicious links) and wait for you lot to run out of music recommendations… as if!
Definitely keep the mixes coming… it’s like the good old days when a friend would give you a mix tape. I reckon the October guest mix will be a tough one for you Cheeze, but a goody! The challenge will definitely be honing it down to 20 tracks….
