“NOWHERE, JAZZ QUINTET”
EN NINGÚN LUGAR (2008)
The “Nowhere Jazz Quintet” is a brilliant Jazz band from Bogota in Colombia with the exception of Pavel, he’s Cuban. The music is composed by the drummer Juan Camilo Anzola Caro (who has done an interview with me to be posted at a later date). The Piano player is really good too and the sax and trumpet are just beautiful and the bass keeps a great rhythm. Watch the videos once, the second time do it with your eyes closed and tell me if these are not great jazz musicians. All in all a top class Jazz Band or Quintet.
Various people recorded on the album but the actual band is:
Juan Camilo Anzola – Drums
Dario Torres – Piano
William Suarez – Bass
Juan Felipe Cardenas - Saxofone
Pavel Ruzaeta – Trumpet
On the album these artists played and recorded:
Drums: Juan Camilo Anzola
Bass: William Suarez , Luis Guevara , Juan Manuel Toro
Piano: Manuel Borda, Rodrigo Garcia, Dario Torres
Trompeta: Pavel Zuzaeta
Here are two videos of their live performances – the cd will be in the UK shortly and for sale on Ebay for those of you who love jazz.

Hi Bert – great post (again), I had no idea there was such a vibrant Jazz scene in Columbia, will have to tell my Dad to visit as he is such a big Jazz fan.
Also, the last 3 posts – My Soul Mix, this Jazz post and Ken’s post on Christine Ott it shows what a varied group of contributors we have her on MFTM – thanks to you both.
Hello LD im glad you like it it was another done at 3 in the morning but as i say i did an interview with Juan Camilo and i will do a post with more info on the band
Oh and we are varied variety is the spice of life and music
Hey guys&gals, 2 minor mistakes:
-the sax player´s name is Felipe
@Laughing Dog: these guys are from Colombia (Columbia is an US state) withe the exception of Pavel, hes cuban.
i´ve been in some of their live performances and they are just great!
Hi Clavo – and welcome to musicforthemonth.com
Thanks for taking the time to correct our article, we like to get it right.
First all all, welcome to all our new Columbian friends – we’ve had 34 new visitors from this country since Bert’s article. Clavo, I see from my data that you are from Columbia – I would love for you to share with us the musical scene in Bogata and Columbia – what are you and your friends listening to?…. what concerts are you going to etc.
One of the pleasures of this website is the new bands and artists from around the World that we are being introduced to and I hope this continues with you in Columbia. Maybe we can hear some musical samples from some Colombian bands.
Hihihi. Thanks for correcting LD, so he can do it again. No offense, guys, some people are just a little slow. Do you have whips in Colombia?
LD: Calvo (Not Clavo) told you that he is from Colombia and not Columbian… Notice the difference? Yay, that’s 34 of your new friends offended and you only just said hello. Don’t worry guys. you’ll get used to it. (: As for Bert: He quite simply can’t spell.
One of the pleasures of this web site is that we apparently don’t take things too seriously.
Hello CalvoHP
and welcome
i am sorry if i Got Filipe Cardenas name wrong i copy and pasted the name from the email that Juan Camilo sent me so i was shure i had it right , as LD states “we like to get it right” so i will chat with Juan Camilo and make shure i have it all right and correct any mistakes
thank you for your comments
Spiggie you are right i cant spell and i never could , but i do try (and get it wrong most of the time ) it is so mutch easier wrighting in spanish , in english with all its written rules it gets confusing
I wouldn’t worry Bert – we all make spelling mistakes on here. I don’t think any of us have trouble understanding what you’re writing and you post some great music, so crack on.
Hi Spiggy – they were of course deliberate mistakes by me and Bert to make sure you were still awake – which you were so top marks for you and I as a reward you can punish Spacey twice tonight
hello again Calvo and welcome – you may have noticed already that you don’t have to be mad to visit here but it does help

LD- I knew that, of course. Just running a test here – finally I got some response to one of my comments. Yay!
Bert – I like the way you spell things, it brightens my day. I admit the English Language can be a bit discombobulating at times.
