The musicians are
Guitar – Justin Dwyer
Bass – Tiago Coimbra
Drums – Rick Hudson
Sax – Josh Ison
Trumpet – Neil Waters
The bass player is especially good, don’t hear many like him, I love the sax and the samba like drums, and the guitarist is just amazing.
Have a listen i am sure that you will agree they are exceptional musicians.
If you like Jazz and Funk and you would like to buy the cd, you can find it on Jazz CDs for only £8.99.
Unbelievable – I went to school with Justin Dwyer!! He was really good on guitar then. At the age of 11 or so, he would hear a piece of music, play it back and then improvise… will definitely checking this band out a bit more!
i Did this post quick at about 3 in the morning therefore im sorry i didnt leave more info
there website is http://www.loosejuice.co.uk/
Nothing wrong with a 3am post Bert.
Hi Bert – very funky very fluid – you should do more posts at 3 in the morning.
Techy – it’s a small world, when was the last time you contacted your old school friend?
Ahh – I’ve not seen him since we were 18! He has got an account on MySpace though, so I think I’ll get in touch again. I still remember an English class when our teacher (who played in a band) was asking Justin what kind of music he was into. Justin responded that he liked Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, etc and the teacher wnet slack-jawed in disbelief. It was 1987 and we were 11 years old…
We also used to have a yearly rock concert which was one of the highlights of the calendar. A few of the school bands would perform in front of the rest of the school…. felt like a real gig to us, with lasers, smoke machines, crowd surfing etc… Justin played in the most popular of the bands called ’3 and a Half Minutes’ with his brother Damon. I can remember Justin stealing the show with some breathtaking guitar playing. Good days.
You will Definatley have to call him now i could probably get you his number if you cant find it
and you can tell him you came across his music on MFTM
Justin realy is an outstanding guitarist and Tiago is one of the best bass players i have heard in years . makes for great music
Maybe I’m missing something here – maybe I just don’t get it, could be I’m missing the funk?
I mean, I listened to these tracks quite a few times, but I struggled to find that magic ingredient in there. I mean, the music is alright I suppose, nothing wrong with it, but couldn’t you see this kind of thing in the pub every night of the week? Depending on where you live of course, couldn’t really expect you to catch it in the middle of the Big Sand on a Tuesday night for example. But near enough anywhere else surely?
I admit I’m no expert on jazz, although Spacepiggy is getting me there. I don’t know the first thing about funk, well maybe roughly what it sounded like in the ’70′s. But I really can’t see anything really significant about these samples.
Probably good enough live as Bert says, but then round here we have about 20 local bands doing , what sounds to me, like exactly the same thing, most nights of the week.
ok in that case i think im going to have to move to your side of the world as i would love to live in an area with sutch an amout of great music .
