With the discovery of the amazing Audiggle software that identified Tricia’s mystery song plus the sparse comments made about the Mini Mix each month – I have a question for you – “shall we keep it or replace it with something else”?
The something else could be a specific play list containing songs from one band (Hawkwind,Floyd, Doves etc.) or (and I kinda like this or) a play list by one of you with you selecting all the songs (mmm me do like this idea)
Anyway – lets discuss what you think, I’m like John Mayall undecided.

A playlist from different members each month would be good – we’d really get a good insight of all of our weird and wonderful tastes. It would also be a chance to air some of those obscure and forgotten favourites….

I’ve got notes for an accoustic mix I’d love to do and I know that I would absolutely adore any mix by URD and Technoflod (sorry Spacey, I would love all of your writing but not so much the music!)
p.s. I love your mini mixes but I get ever so irritated at not knowing what the tracks are and my hearing’s not good enough to pick out lyrics to do google searches!
The mini mixes were a good idea, but they may have run their course. With the discovery of Audigiggle, Mr D’s whole point of them has gone up in smoke.
Besides, as LZ says, it can get very irritating not knowing what we are listening to. Music is supposed to be a pleasurable experience, not a source of irritation. And, when we do come across something we like on the mix, how are we supposed to know what to go and search for if we don’t have a clue what it is? Mr D keeps reminding us to support the artists and buy the CD, and quite rightly so, but this method does pose the ever so slight problem of not knowing what to buy.
So something new is needed.I thought it might be a bit of fun if we could suggest a few tracks each which tie in with the month we are on. For example, in January we have New Year songs, we also have Rabbie Burns Day in Scotland. February we have Valentines Day, March is Paddy’s Day in Ireland, etc. I am sure there must be enough days throughout the year spread across the world to fill a mix each month. To me anyway seems to work in well with the Music of the Month idea and I am sure we could come up with some weird and whacky songs each month. Also might help to spread the international flavour of the website.
And don’t worry LZ, I have plenty more songs saved in reserve for you yet!
We need to make a final decision very quickly as I normally have a mix ready to go about 10 days before posting. It’s a toss up I think between Spaceys idea of a themed mix or LZ and Techy preferring a guest mix each month.
URD, Cheezy, Tricia, Bert et al. what do think – what would you like to see here as the mini mix?
Actually keep thinking as I may surprise you with one more mix this month – with info – that I’ve been working on for a while. Its a themed mix but one that I’m sure we’ll all love
OK………….here’s what I would like to do. Please keep thinking about what you would like to replace the Mini Mix – but for this month I have a treat for you!! On the 10th, 15th and 20th of August I’m going to post 3 special mixes that have a theme – this means that you will receive 45 songs (15 per mix) that I hope (I know) you will love.
And the theme is……………………………………………………………you gonna have to wait until the 10th

OK – I think, maybe, probably I’ve decided what to do about the new mini mix – I think.
I like Spaceys idea of having themed mixes each month with us all contributing tracks and we can do this for special mixes in future (like Halloween, etc.) – but what I really would like to see and hear is a guest mix each month.
I think we’re all shown what a fantastic mixture of musical tastes are here – I would love to explore this more with you taking it in turns to provide a mix. The mix would look like the main mix with album covers and notes for each track and would be between 12 and 20 tracks (no more than 20 as it gets a wee bit long). The choice of songs is up to you – old, new, borrowed or blue (as long as there’s nothing that will cause offence) then you’re the boss.
One thing – the mix and notes would have to be ready by the 1st of each month to be posted on the 15th to give us time to organize.
So how do you feel about this?
If you’re all in agreement lets start with Septembers Guest Mix to be posted on Sept. 15th.
But who first? Unless someone has ‘One Burning Desire’ to go first (great song Hugh) then I’ll suggest we go alphabetically in the following order:
Bert – September
Cheesy – October
LZ – Nov
Spacepiggy – Dec
Spacepig – Jan 11
Techy – Feb
URD – March
Have I missed anyone? (Hope not)
So Bert…… I will need from you by the 1st September your songs and notes.

Sounds like a great idea to me! It’s a great chance for us all to dig deep into our collections and pull out some unusual stuff.

Don’t like to cause ripples (correction, I do like to cause ripples), but with my work schedule and all that, January is not good for me at all. You all know how busy I get through December. Can I maybe swap with Techy or URD because I simply will not have any free time through December.

Mr Teckysquid, I think that is one fear that we can all safely put to bed. She is going to be delighted when she finds out that she has drawn the Crimbo mix – one of her favourite movies is The Nightmare Before Christmas so I am beginning to imagine what we might be in for. Even I am quaking at the thought already.

Being a bit of a technophobe.I’ve only used a computer for about a year.There’sa lot of things i don’t know about.G mails,chat rooms,what do all the F buttons do etc.(I learnt to copy & paste today) Hurrah! You would laugh if you knew how long it’s taken me to type this.
