There are some songs that will remain timeless – this is one of them. In my humble opinion, one of the most important songs of the last 40 years, and a timely reminder that it’s the 30th anniversary of Ian Curtis’ death – RIP.
When routine bites hard,
And ambitions are low,
And resentment rides high,
But emotions won’t grow,
And we’re changing our ways,
Taking different roads.
Then love, love will tear us apart again.
Love, love will tear us apart again.
Why is the bedroom so cold?
You’ve turned away on your side.
Is my timing that flawed?
Our respect runs so dry.
Yet there’s still this appeal
That we’ve kept through our lives.
But love, love will tear us apart again.
Love, love will tear us apart again.
You cry out in your sleep,
All my failings exposed.
And there’s a taste in my mouth,
As desperation takes hold.
Just that something so good
Just can’t function no more.
But love, love will tear us apart again.
Love, love will tear us apart again.
Love, love will tear us apart again.
Love, love will tear us apart again.
I’m a bit young to remember this first time round, but can appreciate class when I see it. Its also made me explore Ian Curtis and Joy Division more, cool band
Awesome song – a true classic. Have you ever seen the film 24 Hour Party People? – Well worth it if you get chance…
Hi Techy – will look out for the film. It’s funny I was never a fan Joy Division but this song just means so much – its kind of had to explain and surely one of the wonders of music, that I can be moved by a song and not like or want to be associated with other songs they wrote……is this true for you Techy (and others of course?)
Absolutely – I fell the same about this. I love this song, but like you, I’m not a huge fan of Joy Division. Lots of examples of this – I think It’s Been Awhile by Staind is amazing, but the rest of the album is decidedly average. The same goes for Get What You Give by The New Radicals….. I could go on…. but won’t bore you.
