This album is very very very good – Bonamassa has set himself and other guitarists a new benchmark, one that will be very hard to beat.
He sounds like a man inspired, like a man on top form and in the process has produced a fabulous rock record more I think than a blues record covering songs by Jeff Beck, John Hiatt, Otis Rush, Willie Nelson and Leonard Cohen. He’s also joined by B.B. King on the Willie Nelson, tune “Night Life”.
The album was produced in Santorini, Greece and named after Black Rock Studios where it was recorded with Bonamassa once again working with producer Kevin Shirley. (Black Crowes, Aerosmith) – this may explain the rockier sound. With each new album, music lovers are beginning to sit up and take notice. Bonamassa’s voice also continues to impress and with his undoubted mastery of the guitar he must surely be acquiring a name as the new king of blues rock guitar.
Highly recommended with the highlights being Blue and Evil, I Know a Place, Spanish Boots and Night Life

I tried, honest I did! I tried really really hard to get into this guy. But I never quite managed it yet. I’m not going to give up, these two songs sound quite good, but I find that I struggle to listen to any of his CDs right the way through.
Could it be that the best way to listen to this guy is to break the habit of a lifetime and do a bit of mixing?
Oh my goodness, I hate this type of music but…. even I can see how good that first track is.
Strangely, it reminds me of Helen Reddy/Angie Baby, the intro at least.
p.s. Has no-one noticed that recent comments are now displaying over there in the sidebar so that you can keep track? No, I thought not! Time for a design rejig methinks.

LZ, I have noticed now, thank you. Yay ! Now I can stop feedreading and then clicking to MFTM and then clicking to the Categories and then clicking to the right thread and then back to the next thread and then yada yada yada; this is SO much nicer.
“Wisdom is knowing what to do next; Skill is knowing how to do it; and Virtue is doing it” (David Starr Jordan) – strikes me you have all 3 attributes.
May god bless and keep you always.
