I was told once by a so called music-expert that Pat Methany made music for lifts – mmm.

OK there are two ways to listen to this guy – either you put it on to relax to and just chill out with friends and vino and you have this as soothing background music or you put on a pair of good quality headphones and listen, really listen to the music. Its the second approach that provides the most pleasure – try it and let me know what you think.

I do know that if I was in a lift and this guy was playing I’d be going up and down all day.

Hope you enjoy the samples

Thanks for the samples Mr D, much appreciated.

First impressions? First track was quite good. I kept expecting it to lift off at some point, but in all honesty it didn’t really strike me in the same way that the one off Upojenie did. I haven’t had the chance to put it to the headphone test yet but I will as soon as I can.

The live one however is a different story altogether. I thought for the first minute or two that it was going to be a little bit tedious. Wow, was I ever so wrong. Just loved the way it ebbs and flows. And again, that guitaring, man oh man!! I’m going to have to play this alongside some of Carlos Santana’s best to compare the styles. Mrs SP also really got into the piano playing so something for each of us in there. Got this one reserved from the library and picking it up next week.

Last one didn’t really do it for me, but obviously still millions of leagues away from the commercial pap that’s put out these days.

Looks like I’ve found a whole new journey to go off on.

Hi Spacey – glad you like Methany. Cant believe the music that you’re library has – you are a lucky man.

The one thing with this guy is, that he has so many albums and his style is quite similar throughout that he can be a wee bit repetitive. Don’t get me wrong I like the albums that I have and when the mood takes me its just great but he’s a bit like bottle of Sambuca, you can’t drink one every day but once a month is great.

I suppose you’re right, our library is quite good. Huge selection of Jazz, Folk, Blues. Maybe a bit light on the rock side but that’s OK.

The music section is called The Rory Gallagher library. Apparently he donated loadsa money to it over time and I think some of his record collection ended up there.

On permanent display is his guitar and a few glass cases with his gold discs, concert programmes, etc. Quite a cool place really.
One of the squares in the centre of town is called Rory Gallagher Place (or something like that). He grew up here and lived here for years. Everyone here knows someone related to him and I met his brother and his uncle at the Peter Green gig last year.

But more to the point – who says you can’t drink a bottle of Sambuca every day? You ain’t met me and Mrs Pig yet have you?
