February Mini Mix

The February mini music mix cover is a photograph of two penguins hand in hand (or wing in wing) in the snow against a bright blue sky.

Woah Nellie, another mini mix? Does the Dog never sleep?

I know, but the spirit of St Valentine has spread to these shores and I wanted to share even more great music with you – again with the cunning twist of presenting the music to you with no information in the hope that you will all simply download, press play, sit back and enjoy.

I’d love your views in the comment box on what you feel about hearing a song without knowing who the artist is – kind of like eating a box of fine Belgian chocolates* with no description card.

* In fact, I was chatting to Liefste Zus earlier today and she suggested something like this for the album cover!

Download this month's music-mix

The February Mini Music Mix [a 93mb zip file] will be available for one month from today – until midnight on 15 March 2010.

As always, please support the artists – if you like a track, buy the album!

Enjoy

Mrs LZ I know I say this all the time but the album cover pic is once again fabbostunning. I have an interest in photography and you seem to have an eye for a picture. Do you take pics as well?

Hi Sinny – bugger bugger I thought I had deleted all the info. What do you play the mix in – is it itunes?

Dear Sinny, you have made my day – no, my week, thank you! I do take photos and one of these days I’ll start taking it seriously but the weather here has been crap for so long (juggling dogs + camera is no easy feat) that it’s kind of taken a back seat. But I love finding great pictures for the dog’s album covers :-)

Very different to February’s mix which enthralled me and I must add not as good. Quite bluesy in parts which doesn’t really do much for me.

Tracks 1 & 2 are of course Siena Root and they sound as good here as they do at home.

Track 4 interests me is it Magazine or Wire? Good track

Track 7 must be John Lee Hooker

Track 9 is one of the best on the mix but I cannot for the life of me think who it is. Must be a new artist.

Track 10 where did you find this track? It’s Laura Nyro if I’m not mistaken, I can’t place the song but remember her from the late 1960’s when she released her debut album ‘More Than a New Discovery’ – she’s a truly marvelous singer/songwriter should have been far more popular than she was.

Track 12 is My Culture by One Giant Leap excellent track to the end the mix

Some good guesses Ken and track 10 is Laura Nyro (song is Elis Comin) can’t remember how I stumbled across her and track 12 is One Giant Leap.

Track 4 is a band called Spoon with their first single ‘Written in Reverse’ from their new album Transference which is just great.

Track 7 is John Lee Hooker but with Canned Heat singing ‘Whiskey And Wimmen’

Does Spacey and UncleRaveyDavey know track 7?
