Blind Melon – Soup
Very different to their first album, but just as good. Wonder how big these guys would have been if Shannon Hoon hadn’t been taken from us so young.

Absolutely LOVE this track, off to find out more. If someone sends me Amazon gift certificates for my birthday I suspect I know what’ll be coming through the door in a brown cardboard wrapper!
Great song, great album, LZ you’re in for a treat for your birthday (when is it?). But, as usual this isn’t my favourite album of theirs. That honour would go to Nico – so harsh, angst ridden and at times downright heart-breaking. LZ, get that one at the same time – and you better get the Kleenex in.
So the question is – what are you listening to now (pt. 2). Well, tonight Mrs SP has gone to a friend’s and left me home alone. So the obvious thing to do is to dig out a stack of DVDs. Started off with Hawkwind – Knights of Space. That one gets a bit of a slagging in most reviews but I quite like it. Good mix of re-hashed oldies with a few newbies mixed in. Tim Blake in stunning form, part time roadie part time bass player/ vocalist Mr Dibs having the time of his life and good old Captain Brock guiding the starship ever onwards and upwards. Then moved onto Comus, just to shake up the braincells a bit you understand.
Next up will be Pink Floyd at Pompeii. That one should also be on your list Mr D (don’t bother about the Director’s Cut version though, that’s just plain silly).
Has anyone heard the new Massive Attack one yet? I was thinking about getting it, but going by the reviews I’m not quite so sure. Don’t get me wrong, I think most of their stuff is excellent, Mezzananine in particular was outstanding, but I thought 100th Window, somewhat turgid. Seems like this one could be much the same.
Hey Mr SP I’m not a big fan of these guys but did think and still do think that Blue Lines and Mezzanine are great CDs and when I need some chill time I still play them. When I heard that they had a new CD out I was like you and ummed and arrred about whether I should buy also I’m still listening to and enjoying the CDs by the Siena Root and Midlake. But last week I was in Virgin in Villaggio and they were playing this at the counter and it sounded good so I bought it.
It was a good decision as I have played it for almost a week now and can say that it is good maybe not as good as Blue Lines and Mezzanine but definitely worth buying. I found though that the best tracks are at the beginning of the CD songs like Pray for Rain, babel and Splitting the Atom and the end of the CD loses some of the magic and quality of the openers although Paradise Circus is a good song maybe my fav.
So Mr. SP do I recommend that you buy it…………………..yes I do as it is a good album much better than many new CDs and I have enjoyed it – hope you do to
Hey Mr. LD – great song BTW
Hey Mrs LZ Happy Birthday to you
Hi Sinny – thanks for review, reckon I’ll join Spacey and buy it as well
This strikes me as something LD will enjoy – and, strangely, probably LZ as well:

And here’s one for LZ to love and Spacepig to hate (me, I love it – but probably will tire of it quite quickly):
