Radio Paradise – Heaven for music lovers

radio-paradise
I’ve been searching for ages to find an Internet radio station that I can honestly say I like. UncleRaveDave (where have you gone?) recommended a great blues station but it wasn’t something that could listen to all day.

But (BIG BIG FANFARE) I’ve recently discovered Radio Paradise and it has really impressed me with their choice of music – everything from Porcupine Tree, Led Zep, Costello gosh too many to list. As I write this the last four songs have been Pink Floyd (Sheep), The Pretenders (Message of Love), Suzanne Vega (Blood Makes Noise) and The Beatles (Come Together) – ecletic or what?

It’s run by Bill & Rebecca Goldsmith and I don’t know how they do it but it feels like there’s a person at the end of music playing these songs just for you. There are no commercials, very few voice-overs and they play some fantastic songs – so what are you waiting for? Re-tune your dial and mention that the Dog sent you.

This is all very well Mr D, but, with all the CDs you keep recommending, the ones we discover ourselves and all the various ones that others chip in with, just how are we supposed to find time to listen to any radio station? There’s only so many hours in a day you know!

Exactly what I was going to say Spacepig!

If you guys are interested, I do an internet radio show occasionally – about once a week/ fortnight. I play an eclectic mix of whatever takes my fancy at the time of broadcasting. I do the show from my cellar at home and play for about 3 hours normally.

I currently have between about 1-10 listeners currently, so hardly hitting the big time! Guess I’m shamelessly plugging my show, but if you like the sounds of it, I’ll put a post up when I next play giving details. I’m based in the UK, so times may not suit all of you.

Hi Techy – I’m impressed with your radio show, will I be able to listen to in Doha? Do you have past/future play lists would love to see the music you play. If it includes any of the stuff you’ve mentioned so far you will gain some more listeners from here.

BTW – don’t worry about shamelessy plugging your show here – please feel free to use my site to plug it. Can we set up a link or something that can posted on a sidebar here or samples of past shows? Anything I can do to help – please let me know.

Hi Techy – fantastic play list, I will be listening on Wednesday 9:30 Doha time. Its no wonder you like my site we have very similar tastes in music.

Migration – Nitin Sawhney – I love this guy and this must be the only album I haven’t got – is it worth buying? of course it is and I will buy.

Nice to see Diane Birch here (twice) great album – I included Magic View on last months Mini Mix

Emily Jane White – a new name to investigate (good reviews on Amazon) – bloody hell can’t wait for Wednesday

I hope you enjoy it, those that tune in. It’s a mixture of well-known and rarer stuff and totally off the cuff, so can get quite eclectic. I’ll be interested in your comments afterwards.

    Hi Techy,

Just to let you know I’m tuned in as I type and listening to De-Mob Happy and now some Floyd – sounding good

  10. Spacepig says

Just joined you guys, unfortunately I have to peel the spuds while I listen – at least I have some Floyd while I’m at it. And – there’s also a match on at the mo!!!

  11. Laughing Dog says

Chips or mash Spacey? We also hear the voice of Techy then I think some Alabama 3 (could be wrong here as I’m in bed listening) – but it all sounds bloody good. My only problem is keeping awake its almost 10 o clock and I’m up at 5 with big meeting at 6:30 – I sometimes hate Doha being 2 ours ahead of you guys

  12. Spacepig says

Tonight it’s my very favourite – Mrs SP’s own special recipe shepherd’s pie. I can eat 2 kilos of that at one sitting. Then have the left overs for lunch next day.

I would say I pity you having to go to bed already, but then I remembered that you can spend all day every day in the sunshine so Ya Boo!

Onto Neil Young now – great stuff keep it Techy!!!

  13. CHEEZEPEEZE says

Just come home,& the first song i hear is Dave Gilmour.(what a talent, this man is!)
Radio Paradise- looks like i’ve found another source of great music.
    Good quality sound too.

Thanks so much for tuning in guys. I know tonight was random, but that’s how I roll when I have a glass or two of wine! I’m away for a few weeks now, but I’ll always be sure to keep you posted when I do a show. If you have any suggestions/ requests, just let me know and i’ll do my best to accomodate. Thanks again.

  15. technoflid says

PS – Laughing Dog – I always record my shows. Wonder if there’s a way that I can send you an MP3 version that can be posted on the site? Means people can listen in when they want then….

  16. Laughing Dog says

Hi Techy – I would love to post your show here, for one thing I’ll be able to listen to it and not fall asleep – this was not due to the music I may add , I was loving the sounds you were playing last night, but he working day in Doha (up early bed early). Lets check with LZ to see how we can accommodate but thanks for asking.

  17. Technoflid says

    Hi all
I’ll be doing a radio show tomorrow night all being well – details below. It’s been awhile because of various other commitments. Looking forward to doing it. I have no idea what I’ll be playing at this stage – a completely random mixture is very appealing though.
