Two of my pups have been shouting about this band for a while – since they saw them live at the Green Man Festival in August 2009, they’ve been trying to get me to review the album on here as they feel that music (not here I hope) generally has become a bit stale, a bit too acoustic.
The band’s debut album Checkmate Savage is just great – I hear different things each time I listen to it (The Delgardos, The Decemberists even Hawkwind) – I hear a band who are not afraid to do what they want – I hear a band brought up on good music – I hear a band who could just be the future of British music – is this too bold a statement? No.
The band are Scottish, born and bred in Glasgow, and they have an air of confidence that allows them to develop each song giving it time to breathe, time to find its own breathtaking destination. Wonderful lyrics combined with refreshing melodies and vocals bordering on baritone make this an album for all.

Hey Mr LD I was looking at this album over Xmas when in UK and didn’t buy for some reason what a shame its sounds good in the music mix will have to buy it now. Do you have any more of their albums?
Hi Sinny – glad you like. No I do not have anymore of their albums but intend to…asap
