Just thought I would share with you some stats from Statcounter.com regarding Musicforthemonth (from Aug 1st to Dec 31st 2009)
First Time Visitors – 2005
Returning Visitors – 944
Key
First Time Visitors – Visits site for one visit
Returning Visitors – A person returning to the website for another visit
64% downloaded a Music Mix
It basically says that the site is receiving lots of visitors, which is great, but not many are actually posting comments or contributing – which is OK but something I am keen to develop.
I did not start this site to become the biggest or the best music blog – far from it – I started this site to provide a forum to discuss great music and to share with you a sample of the music I’m currently enjoying. This has been achieved and we have developed a solid community where the only objective is to discuss our music – and this has made me very happy.
What I will attempt to do over the next month is to develop our community and get some more music nuts to join us. You can help with this by either posting a comment (if you are reading this and haven’t yet posted) or by recommending us to a friend who may enjoy what we do here.

Were you thinking of adding a forum or would you prefer to keep the discussion here? Must admit, I prefer to read other people’s comments to your posts rather than random forum threads but I wonder what everyone else thinks?
It would be easy to set it up for other people to write posts – would anyone be interested in doing that? Or maybe you’d prefer to just send laughing dog an email that he could publish under a guest’s name?
Any other ideas?
(p.s. You could start a new category called “Site News” for posts like this?)
Me again. I’ve just been checking out via YouTube* some of the artists mentioned in this BBC article “The best albums you never heard in 2009 – Melanie Fiona and Blue Roses are doing it for me so far. Don’t think either are your cup o’ tea but worth having a listen.

Mrs LZ not sure I agree with you about music videos not all of them are bad. I waych MTV and VH1 and enjoy most of what I see what i think is the problem is the that there is so many videos now that it s hard to make one that is different. Maybe I will watch the Muppets again
Hey Sin again – Happy New Year! Hope you had a lovely break but it’s great to see you back.
To be honest, I’m not really the target market for much of the video output these days being (a) female; (b) middle-aged and (c) a boring old fart who realises that soft porn sells music unfortunately.
LD will testify that I am not a prude (no, really!), I swear like a trooper and see nothing wrong with (some) of the porn industry.
But… it’s gotten to the point that artists are signed based on their looks and videogenic (is that a word?) qualities, even classical artists. Can you get the Classic FM TV channel where you are? Nestled amongst the numerous ads are video after video of pouting young hotties pretending to play a violin – the current image on there is an example, the tousled, “just-got-out-of-bed-where-I’ve-been-f*rked” look.
Take a look at some of the videos for female artists in the charts at the moment – wearing stupidly high heels and very short skirts, licking phallic symbol cars and cavorting around like ninnies. I’m not blaming them actually, I doubt they have much if any creative input into the content of the videos, that’ll be the male suits running things but I think it’s another factor in the alleged drop in music cd sales – anyone with half a brain (= earning good money and able to afford to buy the cds) is fed up to the back teeth with the ridiculousness of the music industry as it stands.
Blimey, I didn’t know I had a rant coming on, best go make a pot of tea, fetch my slippers and have a nice sit down…

Gerry (that’s him on guitar and vocals) is an old friend of mine from before I even moved to Aberdeen. I haven’t seen him for a few years now but it’s great to see him still plugging away. I’ve been trying to get in touch with him to invite over here for a few gigs because I know he would go down a storm, no success yet but I’ll get there.

You are going to have to help the Old Dog here as you have recommended so many to me – do you mean the new one By Mr. West and his hippy friends as my brother sent this to me for Xmas but it still hasn’t arrived.
The one I mean is the one ordered on 8th January then cancelled (Siena Root).
