Up Simon’s Arse

Santa must also be so fed up of the mindless tosh that we’ve seen as the UK Xmas number 1 single for the past few years. As this year we have proper music with Rage Against the Machine and their single ‘Killing In The Name’ selling 500,000 downloads and beating X Factor winner Joe McElderry’s ‘The Climb’ by 50,000 copies to clinch the top spot.

This got me thinking about my favorite Xmas no. 1 and it has to be Shakin’ Stevens “Merry Christmas Everyone” which was no. 1 in 1985.

Next question must be….what’s your favorite Xmas song? Doesn’t have to be a no. 1 just have a Xmasy theme.

I always liked Jona Lewie’s Stop The Cavalry but for some strange reason the hideous Mull of Kintyre is in my head at the moment and won’t go away.
