Well, if Siena Root are covering the best of the 70's at the very least it proves that there was something about the 70's worth covering. Personally I think that rather than covering them, they've taken the '70's by the scruff of the neck, shaken them up a bit and brought them screaming and shouting right up to date. I wonder if anyone will find anything from the latest crop of blandness worth doing that to in 30 - 40 years time, somehow I doubt it.

On a rather more frustrating note, the new Siena Root CD was scheduled for release today. Notice I said was due today. Release has now been delayed until 19th October. Frustrating yes, but at least it leaves something to look forward to in 2 weeks time (other than Peter Green in concert).

MR. LD good response and you have my support

You know I like some stuff that you dont and you have tried to recommend new music to me that is great. And your music mix and other reviews and stuff shows that you are not stuck in the 1970's its just that you dont like The White Lies and Arctic Monkeys this should not be a problem for Mr Puppet there are plenty of sites that do like them. Hopefully he/she will listen to your music mix

Hi puppet

Thanks for your post - I've been waiting for someone to tell me I'm wrong and that The White Lies and Arctic Monkeys are worth listening to.

First thing - I bought 'Whatever People Say...' Humbug' and 'To Lose a Life' and did try to listen to - to enjoy - to find something that I could say "mmm I like that"... but sadly and I do mean sadly I could not find anything. All I heard, all I could find was blandness, recycled musical ideology all wrapped up in a dollar bill - in short it was an ugly episode in marketing over music with sadly marketing winning hands down.

Second thing - I agree with you that Siena Root could be seen as a tribute band, a band who are simply covering the best of the 70's - a Spinal Tap clone who fail to move music forward. But, and this is a big but, Siena Root are producing more honest music than any of the these new bands - music from the heart, not from the wallet. And it kinda sends a statement to all these music industry executives that new ain't always best - and its also kinda sad that I have to go back in time to find some musical pleasure.

Third point - if you look at my Music Mix, look at my CD reviews, I hope you will see that I'm not stuck in the 70's - I love music - any type of music - as I type this I'm listening to Florence + The Machine which (after 6 plays) I like and can see why there's been so much hype as Florence Welsh has obvious talent that I hope will be allowed to mature, her 5th album (if she is allowed to go that far) should be a classic.

To finish, please play the video a few more times, visit their My Space page - I hope you can and enjoy and please remember I don't masturbate to music - I love music - I hope you can too

maybe you should put your preconceived ideas about the white lies and the arctic monkeys behind you, and stop listening to by dodgy cover band who haven't noticed the 70s finished a long time ago and masturbate over pictures of john bonhams drumsticks.
