Welcome back Hound, you may have noticed, I am back too! Picked up any new music while you’ve been away?
Thank you Mr Pig – not much no music been listening a lot to old stuff (The Album Leaf, Ben Harper, Shea Seger, Alex Lifeson amongst others) but I do love the new Porcupine Tree album (The Incident) especially Flicker what a monster of a song – think I’ll make it my song of the month for October. Also bought Roy Harper (Stormcock) which is just great and Muse’s new one though not had a chance to listen to it yet.
What about you my friend – you have a good holiday? New music? What do you think of The Incident? Why not write me a review?
Its back to reality now I’m afraid Mr Hound. The holiday came in two halves. First off we spent a few days in Barcelona. I don’t know if you’ve been there or not, but it is a fantastically manic place. The intention was to do a bit of a culture trip, taking in the Dali and Gaudi experience, looking at architecture that kind of thing. And that was great, well worth seeing. The surprising thing was how crazy the Spaniards actually are. I mean that in a good way, they’re very friendly, but totally loopy, just my kind of people.
Unfortunately, after that we went to the Costa Brava to recuperate. We should have just went straight home. I don’t really want to say too much about that bit, just that I won’t be back there again.
The biggest disappointment was when I got home and the PT CD hadn’t arrived yet. And guess what? It still hasn’t arrived. Against my better judgement I used Play.com instead of Amazon as they were giving a free download with it. Well, I got the download no problem, but they’ve now told me I have to wait another 28 days before they can re-send the CD. So that’s my first and last order with them. I will write you a review of it, but it’s going to have to wait a while.
New music? Mostly pre-orders which aren’t out yet. The new Gong one, 2032, out next week. The new re-release 3 CD version of Hawkwind’s Levitation, out the following week. The week after that we have a new release by a band we haven’t discussed yet, Sweden’s Siena Root. Mrs Spacepig is in Germany visiting her parents just now and she’s is coming back next week with the latest Colour Haze one for me. All in all, it’s going to be a busy few weeks trying to squeeze everything in.
Just off to bed so no chance to write much but new PT is a monster from start to finish absolutely amazing – cancel your order from Play.com and go and buy it tomorrow you cannot wait another 28 days to hear it – believe me you cant wait.
Hi Mr Pig
Sorry to hear about Costa Brava – was it too much like Blackpool? Barcelona is near the top of my cities to visit will aim to do next year as we plan to tour Europe by train.
We have discussed Siena Root and I do like, of course I like, I grew up with this music and do like the Eastern influence in fact my other puppy treated me to an early birthday present when she brought back from UK ‘A New Day Dawning’ AND ‘Far From the Sun’ which meant so much as she searched high and low for both in London and Cardiff. In fact you may find one of their tunes on the next Music Mix (who knows) – I just love the fact that these guys are still doing the business – still having dancers in white dresses at gigs still living in the 70′s – you cant really fault ‘em just love ‘em.
New music for you sounds good – I’ve been looking at the Hawkwind re-release and is very tempted but I have the original and love it and not quite tempted by the marketeers of Amazon to part with 14 quid to buy it again.
Watch this space on 1st Oct you may like my album and song of the month!!!!!!!!!
I couldn’t tell you if the Costa Brava is like Blackpool as I’ve never bothered going to Blackpool. If it is then I’m glad I never went. But at least the sun shines most of the time in Spain and the beer is cheap. I guarantee you will love Barcelona though. Make sure to find an hour or two to people watch in Playa de Catalunya where you really can watch the nutters at play. As far as I know, our plan is to head to Egypt next year. Mrs Spacepig is really big on Egyptology and I am really big on lazing in the sun.
Your pups must adore you after going to such lengths to find you two excellent CDs, hope they’re getting a bone each after that. Did they manage to see Hawkwind whilst over there, and if so, ask them to write a review of the gig for me?
I also have the original Levitation release and I don’t usually bother with the re-releases. I made an exception this time as I couldn’t resist the bonus discs. And when you think about it, 14 quid for a 3 CD set isn’t really that excessive. The only other Atomhenge re-release I bought was 25 Years, and that was because it was the only original Hawkwind CD I didn’t have. I have to say though, it is rather excellent. Not only with the extra material, but the sound quality is quite frightening at times.
Welcome back Mr LD and Mr SP – I’ve been in Dubai for a short break myself over the Eid hols which was extreme to say the least – better not say too much
Good to see you back Mr SA, but please do tell, what are you trying to hide from us?
I had better not say just in case – Mr LD will know what I mean
I know what you mean – I have some very good cream that may help
Why do I get the feeling I’m missing out on something over there? Look out or my next year’s holiday might just be re-scheduled to include a trip to Doha!
